“THE SCHOOL REPORT”

 

Always in our past years we remember a characteristical thing of our school: the report!!! So I decided to try giving a mark to the ferry companies, considering the former year of service, the 2004; sine this report the marks will be reviewed every six months, considering the new facts and the prospective. Hope that you would like this new section!

 

IMPORTANT: THE PRESENT MARKS ARE BASED ON OBJECTIVE FACTS, BUT ALSO ON PERSONAL OPINIONS; THEY AREN’T A QUALITY VALUE BECAUSE I’VE NOT THE NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE TO VALUE A FERRY SERVICE.

Adria Ferries

Now the new “Riviera Adriatica” is part of the fleet to operate on Ancona Durres line. Who is she? The former “Daedalus” of Minoan Lines!!! Anyway, we’re waiting again the “Riviera del Conero”.

Actually her only craft is laid-up, as long as winter seas are not so suitable for “HSC” ferries. It seems that they will introduce new services for 2006 season.

The Bari Igoumenitsa Patras service started very well with two ferries which are setting a new standard on the line for luxus and dimensions. There are also strong rumours about new introductions.

The “Aptera” was finally disposed off; anyway we’re waiting another ferry to be used on summer between Piraeus and Rethymnon plus three more ferries to renew the fleet.

The bad mark due to the cancellation of Chania line is now restored to a better value.

We should not expect any significant news from this company.

When the company was established in 1988, they wanted to introduce the “cruise-ferries” concept in Aegean Sea. Nowadays we should instead notice unattended timetables, ships operated at cruise-speed of 15 knots with very-long trips to the islands, and another time a ferry purchased and resold at record-time. And now also the “Marina” leaves the Aegean Sea.

Ferries laid up every autumn when they’re lacking also on summer, the “Nissos Mykonos” and the “Highspeed 5” are nothing special.

We’re hearing again of new introductions on the fleet, and the ferry which is rumoured to join My Way is a really fine ship, but I don’t believe it until the moment that she’s enrouted

Purtroppo il triste momento dell’addio di Crown M e’ giunto. Peccato, speravo fino all’ultimo un suo ritorno in linea.

Ancora devo digerire la chiusura della linea di Salonicco, e in piu’ anno prossimo tutte le linee hanno guadagnato mezz’ora. Particolarmente deprecabile la cosa sulla Pireo-Heraklio, dove si impiegavano gia’ otto ore, quindi ampiamente sotto le possibilita’ della nave.

Febbre costante, niente di positivo all’orizzonte. Alla Mytilene tra l’altro mancano due anni.

Oltre al recente arrivo della Samothraki il Ferry Tokyo, ro/lo di prossima conversione, la gemella di Panagia Krimniotissa, la quale purtroppo sara’ solo ro/ro, e se l’ultima non fosse stata la “Lady of Mann” sicuramente si sarebbe arrivati al 7.

Servizio puntuale per la Croazia da Ancona, anche se le navi sono decisamente le piu’ anziane in gioco.

Niente di nuovo, tuttavia la compagnia continua ad andare benissimo nel suo servizio ionico. Uno sforzino in piu’

Errare e’ umano, ma perseverare e’ diabolico. Cosi si continua a propinare lo scalo ad Igoumenitsa nella partenza serale da Ancona e Patrasso, con tre passeggeri a bordo. Non basta: ragione ha Panagopoulos a sostenere che le navi non vanno ad acqua ma a combustibile, ma non proibendosi di imporre supplementi carburante mi sembra ingiustificato far viaggiare le navi tra Ancona e Patrasso a 24 nodi in 21 ore. Comincerei a cambiare nome alla compagnia.

Attualmente a Bari c’e’ Nomentana, ma ad Ancona e’ tornata Emilia, non rimodernizzata come precedentemente fatto a “Domiziana”

Qualche ritardo di troppo in estate, d’inverno anch’essi vittime della moria degli HSC.

Invece di seguire il mio consiglio sul bussare alla porta Vicentini,si programmano tutt’altri acquisti. Tuttavia sulla Bari Igoumenitsa l’offerta non e’ cattiva.
