One of the most historically important ships for Strintzis Lines, was in service for the Greek operator for 14 years between 1976 and 1990. Before of Strintzis ownership was owned by Lion Ferry (Copenhagen - Halmstad - Aarhus) and by Canadian Government (North Sydney - Port aux Basques), named “Prins Bertil” and “Leif  Eiriksson” during the Canadian period. Mostly on the line Ancona - Corfu - Igoumenitsa - Patras, was operating with more ships in the years: first the “Ionian Victory”, then the “Ionian Glory”, then “Ionian Sun”, always without being the flagship on that route. In 1987, after the purchase of “Ionian Galaxy”, was put on the new lines Ancona - Split and Ancona - Dubrovnik - Corfu - Patras until 1990 when she was replaced by the “Ionian Fantasy” and sold to a Maltese owner. In 1990 she seems to have served a link between Venice, Split, Brindisi and Igoumenitsa. In 1991 arrives in China with the name “Tian Kun”, and was scrapped there after ten years of service. The “Ionian Star” is the first ship I remember I’ve travelled aboard, in 1986 and 1989, the second time on a Patras - Corfu - Dubrovnik - Ancona route: I have again a beautiful recollection of that trip, especially of the arrival at Dubrovnik. Nowadays, after 15 years, the Italy - CroatiaGreece link was never restored, probably because nowadays the speed required on AnconaPatras connections doesn’t allow a call in Dubrovnik. Comparing the two “Ionian Star” owned by Strintzis, as ship the second one was better, as facilities on board this one was unbelievable the better…
