First of two sisters built for Adriatica, belonging to the bigger family of ro/ros designed by Orlando yards of Leghorn, was delivered in 1975. The delivering ceremony was officiated by the Patriarch of Venice, Albino Luciani, which would become the Pope John Paul I three years later. The career of the vessels under Adriatica livery lasts only four years, before her sale to a subsidiary of Grimaldi Group, Atlantica di Navigazione, as “Freccia dell’Ovest”. In 1993 the ferry was again renamed “Ravenna Bridge”, changing also the ownership, even if I think it was under Grimaldi Group. Finally, was reflagged to Greece in 2000, bought by Halkydon Shipping and shortening her name to “Ravenna”. After a period of service on AnconaCorinth line, was moved to Agemar service TriesteDurres.
