We don’t know many notices about this ferry, launched by Poli yards of Pellestrina in 1989
for services to Tremiti islands, leaving from both Vieste and Termoli ports; the
ferry was transferred to Tirrenia divisione
Adriatica in 2004 summer; was the only ferry still
bearing the St. Mark’s Lion on its funnel and full Adriatica
livery till 2007. Displaced from her service, for which she was specially
designed, at the beginning of 2005 and replaced by a fast Rodriquez-built
ferry, she was laid up at Bari, having left this port only for a brief spell to
replace the ferry on Tremiti service. After 2007
there aren’t many informations about her fate, and
the only reliable facts are that she still has her original Adriatica
name and is flying the Panama flag; her ownership, a U.A.E.-based company
specialized in trading ferries for scrap, suggest a sale for demolition, but
her management, a company of Mauritius islands, reveals her real destiny: she’s
sailing out of Goa, India, as a casino ship, after a heavy rebuilding which
makes the ferry almost unrecognizable.
