The “Egitto Express” was the only recent Adriatica Ship having the hull painted in white instead of the traditional sand colour look. She was a full sister of “Espresso Grecia” when delivered by the Leghorn Yard “Luigi Orlando”; taken over by Adriatica in 1976, was renamed “Espresso Egitto”; originally built as “Espresso Cagliari” for Trans Tirreno Express for Leghorn – Olbia line. Her conversion to the actual appearance was carried in 1991 at INMA yards of La Spezia, Italy, when she was also renamed; until 1992 she was on Italy - Egypt route sailing every eight days from Venice to Bari, Piraeus (Patras in 1992), Heraklion and Alexandria; in 1993 was placed on Trieste - Durres route. In 1994 she went on the direct link Brindisi – Patras, substituting the slower “Sansovino” and being able to cover the distance taking two hours less. Then, because of the little competitiveness of the company, she remained the only Adriatica ship in service between Italy and Greece. After the end of Italy - Greece line, on summer  seasons 2001 and 2002 was chartered to Hellenic Mediterranean Lines on their ItalyGreece service. After these charters was employed in various Adriatica routes, serving also on Thyrrenian links for a while; on summer 2004 was sold to Adria Ferries, a shipping company established by some Marche businessmen to cover the Ancona – Durres route, heavily requested by Albanian citizens resident in Central Italy, after the abandon of Adriatica. I think that with the present livery the “Riviera del Conero” has lost all her elegance typical of “Egitto Express” days. Since 2015 has left Adriatic Sea to work between Sicily and Sicilian smaller islands, as the “Lampedusa” of Traghetti delle Isole.
